Los Angeles, CA — Attorney and community leader Hydee Feldstein Soto today announced her candidacy for Los Angeles City Attorney. Kicking off her campaign months after other candidates announced, Hydee has already raised more than $100,000 and has raised enough money from enough individual contributors to qualify for city matching funds.

“I am running for City Attorney because I bring a unique set of qualifications and experiences to the job without any political commitments or ambitions for higher office,” said Feldstein Soto. “We can and we must do better at finding real solutions to the problems we have faced for decades and the new ones challenging us every day. Now, more than ever, we need public officials who bring integrity and an unwavering commitment to the truth and to their oath of office.”

Hydee, who grew up in Puerto Rico and is fully fluent in Spanish, has lived and worked in Los Angeles since obtaining her law degree with honors from Columbia Law School. Consistently rated as a first-tier attorney throughout her years in private practice as an equity partner at internationally renowned law firms, her legal experience included navigating multibillion dollar financial and structural issues, managing legal practices and groups of lawyers, and serving in leadership positions in the profession including serving on the state and federal screening committees for judicial candidates and appointees. As a community leader, Hydee’s leadership has a proven track record of holding our government accountable at City Hall and beyond.

“I never before dreamed I would run for public office, but right now, this job needs someone other than a regular politician,” continued Feldstein Soto. “Our City is in multiple crises that are only going to get worse if something doesn’t change. The City Attorney has a great deal of responsibility to ensure that decisions made in the coming years are made for the right reasons – not for political expediency – to benefit the City and its residents now and in the future. I’m ready to take on that mission, for all of us.”

As City Attorney, Hydee will focus on rooting out corruption and providing accountability at all levels of city government; protecting and defending our communities on local control and quality of life issues and ensuring equal access to and fairness in the justice system for all Angelenos.
