Meet Hydee Feldstein Soto
Hydee Feldstein Soto is running to be your next LA City Attorney because it is time for new leadership and new energy at City Hall. We need a problem solver – not a politician or city hall insider.
Hydee started out in a legal world that would be – and should be – unrecognizable today. She had to fight ridiculous battles such as taking down pornography in the copy room and objecting to closing deals at strip clubs, appearing before judges who were not just disrespectful but abusive to women and people of color.
Every step of that journey, from leaving Puerto Rico at 17 to fighting and winning in the courtroom and boardroom, Hydee was focused on doing her job and delivering results– and that’s what she did.
Hydee spent decades overcoming institutional hurdles to become one of the country’s most respected attorneys, known for her no-nonsense and can-do approach to finding innovative solutions to difficult problems. Now she is ready to put those skills to work for the people of LA as your City Attorney, to root out corruption and break through the gridlock at city hall. Hydee is running to bring real positive change on the issues that most affect our daily lives – the safety of our streets and neighborhoods, homelessness, unaffordable housing, and more.
As a Latina in the male-dominated legal arena of financial law, Hydee broke down barriers and mentored other women and people of color to help them succeed as well. Through determination and exceptional command of the law, she eventually became a partner in two of the most prestigious law firms in the country.
As LA’s City Attorney, Hydee will be prepared to lead on day one. She has decades of experience leading and managing other attorneys, facilitating multi-billion-dollar transactions larger than the annual budget of Los Angeles and finding innovative solutions to complex legal issues. She will bring new energy, new ideas, and a renewed focus on problem solving – not politics – to the City Attorney’s office.
As a community leader, Hydee has spent years informing and protecting our communities and neighborhoods and serving on her Neighborhood Council. She has used her legal expertise to help empower residents to have a voice on issues that impact their communities.
Hydee was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to the United States at the age of 17 to attend Swarthmore College and Columbia University School of Law. Following graduation from law school, she moved to Los Angeles, which she has proudly called home for nearly 40 years. Hydee raised her now 27-year-old son Jamie in LA and today, resides in Mid-City with her 6-year-old rescue pup, Lucy.
